The first game of the New Year proved to be a beauty for the Albion, winning 4-3 at Royal Lions, having lost this season’s previous two encounters. The late kick-off in the arse-end of Croydon, was a game of upmost quality with 2 fantastic striking performances in particular.
This was reflected in the “Man of the Match†voting, Jonny picked up a solitary vote in third (he has his defensive colleague Aleks to thank for that).
Steve was second with 3 votes, with what I would say was his best performance in an Albion shirt. Steve’s movement, positioning and link-up play meant the Royal Lions back line never had a minutes piece and he was unfortunate not to win the MOM.
However with another hat-trick and with the kind of finishes we are getting used to seeing from him, Harry wins with 6 votes. A 30 yard screamer, a tap-in Micky Quinn would have been proud of and a cool dink over the flailing keeper capped a fine performance.
Henri Leconte is suspended this week, that is all.
