MOM & HL V AFC BALHAM

Bit late in posting this, it’s taken me over a week and a win yesterday to finally get over the performance against AFC Balham. However, needless to say AFC Balham were good for their 2 nil victory in last week’s league match.

“Man of the Match” was keenly contested by a number of players. Simon Abbott and Jonny Hobson, centre back and right back respectively mysteriously picked up single votes apiece. This was along with Harry, Duncan and Rich. However, taking the award was James with 4 votes.

There was plenty of incident to vote for in this week’s Henri Leconte.

If only AFC Balham had known Walter was passing through, he could of also loaded up their kit.

Beginning with the opposition whom turned up with the wrong kit and therefore had to make an emergency dash to a local Balham laundrette to get their second kit. The ref received a couple of votes for his dislike of anyone appealing for anything; this was demonstrated in 3 bookings for Balham players simply for appealing for a variety of decisions.

Ross received a couple of votes for deciding he needed a refreshment break during the second half and leaving the pitch for a drink. Then, being on the receiving end of Duncan’s wrath.

And if it were any other week, I would have expected Bill’s comedy turn on the sidelines whilst running line to have been a way out with winner with 3votes. Bill demonstrated sublime acrobatic skills and grace in performing a perfect “rolly polly”.

However, this week’s winner was man mountain Walter. Deciding the easiest way to transport a net of balls, a full football kit and his own kit back was to strap it all about himself and his bike and biking the 5 miles to Clapham Common from Mitcham.
