Last Sunday, saw many firsts.
Walter took inspiration from Gandalf, “You shall not pass”. (Or whatever it is he says in the film)
The first time an Albion player was clapped back into the changing room (without irony), the first a player was asked to play for the other team with a promised £50 appearance fee and the first time we decided to forego the voting for the MOM and Henri Leconte awards.
It was decided the voting email would have been pointless given the outstanding individual performance witnessed.
Walter being the deserved winner of both awards following an amazing goalkeeping performance, producing countless last ditch saves and generally being a bloody nice guy too. We will even take his own vote as for himself such was his performance. Hailed after the game as “the best performance I’ve ever seen” and “unbelievable Jeff”, the performance left everyone speechless.
With the exception of the Slaternator, whom felt it best to tell everyone at the end of the game he would be paying his fees and subs at the end of the season with a “personal cheque”. Any other week, a certainty for Henri Leconte.
