Slater: "human vuvuzela"
FIFA have ruled out a ban on Vuvuzelas at this year’s Buenner Cup. The announcement flies in the face of a wave of criticism by players and supporters about the noise the plastic horns create.
The instrument was the subject of controversy at the World Cup this summer. TV viewers and supporters in the stadium were unhappy at the constant background noise created by the horns. Players also complained about the noise the instruments created saying that it was impossible to communicate with team mates over the noise.
Albion captain Jindy Mann though was unconcerned about the ruling. Mann said: “Communication on the pitch is vital, but I don’t see this as a problem. You’ve got to remember that all of the squad have played with Will Slater – the human Vuvuzela.”
“They’re used to playing with his noisy background drone.  If you’ve spent 90 minutes tuning out Slater’s constant shouts of ‘shape’, ‘out’, ‘away’, and ‘who’s on the fvcking keeper?’ then a Vuvuzela is nothing to worry about.”
