ALBION V CYRUS THE GREAT – MOTM AND HENRI LECONTE

From Tony Adams to Pascal Gyan, Robin Van Persie to Lukas Podolski, Micky Quinn to Stephen Elliott, Basile Boli to Colin Hendry, Will Slater to Barny Day – football such as life is full of extremes and life with the Albion is no different. After last week being on the receiving end of a “propa spanking”, the Albion replied straight away with an 11-1 pasting for Cyrus the Great.

This week’s Henri Leconte – Nick Evans.
“Footloose” in front of goal.

As such, all votes were on time, everyone voted (except Rich as always) and there was plenty to choose from. In the MOM award, four people picked up a vote apiece, Jonny, Nick M, Joe and Barny. However, first and second was tighter than Nick Evans’s mustard skinny jeans, in second place was Rich with 3 votes but this week’s winner with 4 votes was Simon. As in the words of Matthew Carroll, “won all his headers, managed to keep the ball on the pitch when passing and gave me a lift there and back… A true hero and gent.” Great to have “James” back!

Henri Leconte was nowhere near as open, in fact it was Nick Evans with all but one of the votes. Just to say we do things properly and give credit where credit is due, we’ll do the one first. Cyrus the Great’s goalkeeper picked up one vote and this wasn’t sarcastic, but “for keeping the score down”. Take a bow son, on second thoughts that back is probably a little tender.

But with 7 votes and easily the most emphatic winner of Henri Leconte this season, Nick Evans picking up votes for many reasons including….5 assists, his inability to use his left foot, screaming “BARNY!” about 15 times in a row while desperately trying to get a goal, and also missing more chances than the team scored goals.
