MANN AND MCPHEE HAILED AS “ROLE MODELS”

Albion veterans, Jindy Mann and Dave McPhee were yesterday hailed as “role models” to up and coming teams. The plaudits came from a senior member of league sensations Huracan FC, who yesterday were crowned champions of Division 3 and played Albion in the Marcus Lipton Cup earlier in the season. Taking time out from Huracan’s celebrations, the player approached Mann and McPhee to share the news and credit Albion as “an example to all of us”, citing their disciplined pre-match preparations and punctuality in warming up.

The comments took the elder statesmen by surprise as they enjoyed their traditional post-training high-carb protein recovery milkshakes in the garden of The Grand Union in Brixton. McPhee in particular, was unsure how to interpret the praise. “Role models?… Ah, roll models. Yep – sausage, bacon, Swiss. I’ll model any of ’em.”

Albion manager, Jade Barker, offered an alternative view. “Role models come in all shapes and sizes. Paolo Maldini, Cafu, Ryan Giggs – they all set an example in dedication to fitness and looking after yourself. These two are more like Bryan Robson and Norman Whiteside. Their modelling roles are limited to Tetley Bitter and Jack Daniels”.
