Albion moved to the top of the Southern Sunday Football League with a 4-2 win over last year’s league champions Southbank.
In a hard fought encounter at Dulwich Park Albion had a dream start moving into a 3-0 lead in the opening 20 minutes, with Pemberton finishing twice and Leslie adding the other. However, Southbank showed why they continue to be a succesful side by pulling the score back to 3-2 with two goals from set pieces.
The second proved no less competitive with each side carving out opportunities to score. In the words of Big Ron Albion’s midfield “had to put a shift-in” and even some “unpaid overtime” to shut down Southbank’s players. The game remained finely poised, but with around 20 minutes to go Albion secured the points when a long throw from Pemberton who headed home by Turner from 6 yards.
