ALBION V PELO

The Donfather: "A man who doesn't spend time with the Albion can never be a real man"

The Donfather makes you an offer you can’t refuse. Read the Black Salmon’s match report NOW!

The Sunday’s proceedings started of as usual meet at 9:30, usual crowd strolling in late, maybe as a reult of antics from the night before. Rich was guilty of coming in wearing a plaid shirt, jeans white shoes and no socks. Must of left them behind as he was escaping through the window of a woman’s house as her man was on his way back in.

Jade, “pause” pumping balls and usual breaking a sweat in the corner, and me giving out my bloody football tape on a weekly basis “Don you got any tape” guilty parties, you know who you are.

With all this going on, we knew at the back of our mind’s we had an important game to win, as our recent encounter with Pelo was a close 1-0 victory by a penalty. Knowing we need to basically win, and still win our other remaining fixtures of the season to win the league.

This said we had our usual warm up etc, and a dose of Jade’s total concentration and winning mentality talk, and Jindy’s “Let’s not **** up like Arsenal, and put these games to bed” statement.

Starting line up was 4-4-2, Duncun, Stew, Simon, Will, Matt, Jindy, Andy, Nick, Rich and myself upfront, and (Dangerous Dave and Pamela on the bench).

Before game the game started it was apparent Pelo only had 9 players present at the time, so it was important for us to employ pressure straight away. As soon as the whistle went, we pressured from the front, and as a team we begun to press, a cross from Matt I think, across goal and Andy’s 3 yards out attempt shot hitting the bar?? (Jindy and Nick take note and read or watch twice) 🙂 and as a result, it fell to me just inside the 18 yard box to control and fire an unstoppable shot.

More pressure again and nice play from the right from Rich and Nick, with the ball ending up to our very own (Captain Squirrel Bazooka) Jindy, from about 20 yards to fire a powerful shot bottom left past the keeper, this time with his trusted left foot. Few more chances fell through, and another cross from Matt, for me to glance a header away from keeper to score.

McCue: Keen to get King Kong off his back

I recall a free kick, Rich, Andy and myself contemplating and debating on who would take it, as Andy had yet to get the “Gorilla” of his back, felt sorry for him and we agreed for him take the ambitious free kick. No goal, meaning this #Gorilla was getting heavier by the minute for. We were playing against 9 men for a while you would expect to score right? Andy seemed extremely frustrated with himself for not scoring yet this season. I think Andy wouldn’t have left that pitch until he had scored. We were making our numerical advantage count, but still not passing, or playing the game, like we know we can.

At some point we were rewarded a corner which resulted in a Nemanja Vidic (Esque) powerful header from the boy Stew, not even Almunia from Arsenal could stop that! Actually he could never as he’s a poor man’s Gomez and he is terrible. After 15 -20 min of play two more Pelo players arrived to make things equal in terms of the numbers.

A counter attack from a corner they had, resulted in me getting the ball from the edge of our box with a pinpoint pass to Rich over the top for him surge forward to despatch the ball at the back of the net. We were still pressuring Pelo, but one of their key midfielders that came on late, made a bit of a difference, and was giving our midfielders a few problems with his close control and neat feet, but with our determination, a few hard tackles and strong defence kept things contained.

Halftime 5-0

Barker: Tatical masterstroke

Second half playing a bit better, more closing down and pressure, it seemed the other team were trying to play football, but we were still closing down, making them make errors, and not giving them any time on the ball.  A tactical change from the gaffer? Good judgement? Or a lucky hunch? Taking off Jindy for Dave and Nick off for Vilem resulting in us scoring 7 more goals. Either way I’ll expect Jade to give me some lottery numbers, or some tips/odds on the Grand national next month!!

Some Nice play from Duncun and Matt, (now on the right) I think a through ball from Duncun passed a through ball for me to run onto being on the shoulder of last defender, to put the ball past the keeper bottom left, side netting. A clearance from the defence up to Rich who had two defenders on him got past, could of passed it J, but decided to go on himself, keeper came out, and put the ball pass the keeper side footed shot.

I started to lose count on the amount of goals, but couldn’t forget three in particular. Matt’s wonder goal an overrun pass from Duncun on the right, Matt never gave up chase from the loose ball, and everyone was surprised and thought the ball was out, and out of nowhere a shot from the most acute angle,  a great finish and great goal.

Another goal and a foul on Rich from an (assist pass) from myself J resulted in a penalty! Andy wanted this badly, and all of a sudden Bill ran the whole length of the field “I’ve never seen this before” sprint up and wanted to take it, recalling on his penalty taking technique and stats.

McPhee: Scored with powerful header. Yes, you read that right.

After some deliberation, Andy took the penalty, a shot bottom right, side netting, a good penalty, a penalty Bill should be proud of, or could he have taken a better one?  We’re yet to see! 🙂 Not forgetting Uncle Dave’s powerful header, I think he rose higher than me to get that header, and the net rippled with power.

Vilem also had a shot on target? Ok I lied, the keeper was off his line and Vilem’s #failed attempt was going wide and the keeper made lob look good by making a save which resulting the keeper knocking himself out!

Full time 12-0

A good performance overall, not to mention an even better goal difference, something we can be proud of, but we haven’t won anything yet. Still 3 games to go, have to keep the tempo and hard work going.
