Thomas: Smashed it
Albion attackers Rich Pemberton and Donovan Thomas were at the centre of a sexism storm last night, when they were overheard off-pitch making comments perceived to be lewd and suggestive.
Following the recent cup game against Huracan, Pemberton and Thomas, believing they were out of earshot, were overhead deep in discussion. Pemberton was clearly heard to repeatedly ask “Did you smash it? Did you smash it? I bet you did”. Thomas declined to answer at first, before eventually admitting “Yeah. Yeah, I smashed it properly, right up against the wall”. It later emerged that the two players were discussing one of Thomas’ direct free-kicks.
Meanwhile, a separate sexism storm broke out when centre-back Stew Lauder accused fellow defender, Will Slater, of “throwing like a girl”. Albion manager, Jade Barker, is understood to be livid at the careless remark. “I won’t tolerate this sort of disgusting slur within the club. I’ve got two daughters and they can both throw further than Slater.”
