For the new boys, the novelty of playing a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153double header\u00e2\u20ac\u009d soon wore off when we saw we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d be playing on a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153full size\u00e2\u20ac\u009d pitch. As it was both games were exceptionally close and this was reflected in the tight score lines, 2-1 and 1-1.<\/p>\n
Not sure which game was supposed to be home and which away, so let\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s say we won the first and drew the second.<\/p>\n
With the games being as tight as they were and score lines as low as they were, this was going to be a good week for the defence in the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Man of the Match\u00e2\u20ac\u009d stakes. In the first match (2-1 Albion), Jonny and Myles were third with a vote a piece, in joint second were \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Young\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Carlile and Barny with two votes.<\/p>\n
However, with three votes and winner of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153MOM\u00e2\u20ac\u009d for the first game was Walter. The big fella produced countless saves, including a second half penalty save and an impressive top corner slap which ended up out for a throw-in.<\/p>\n
In the second match (1-1), third place with a single vote was Stewart; in second with 2 votes were Jonny, Barny and Walter. However the winner with 3 votes was \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Old\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Carlile. Although we technically played two matches, this week we will only be having one Henri Leconte. We all know who the true winner was, although for safety sake we shall keep this to ourselves.<\/p>\n
There were votes for the opposition strikers having a barney (argument not Day, although there were a couple of times they had a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Barny Day\u00e2\u20ac\u009d) amongst themselves, arguing amongst other things who was better at passing.<\/p>\n
Matt received a vote for his expert and enthusiastic running of the line. In the words of the gaffer, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Never, since the Battle for Iwo Jima, have I seen such flag waving, truly a Clint Eastwood with the flag\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n
This week\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s winner though was the referee\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s watch, at times going inexplicably fast, at others unbelievably slow and a couple of times travelling back in time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
