ALBION HISTORIC DOUBLE

Carlile's Shinnies sent Slater into meltdown

Carlile’s Shinnies sent Slater into meltdown

Unbelievable Jeff! Yes, this is the first time we’ve ever posted 2 MOM and HL awards at the same time (that weren’t a double header, before the mundane amongst you point it out!)

Sunday 23rd March – Albion V Southbank (1:4)

A game which will go down in Albion folklore, as the game when the Slaternator epically blew his top over missing shin pads and somehow managed to divert attention away from his clinical own goal (yes Vil, get in there!)

Man of the Match was voted as follows, Jindy and Walt third with a vote a piece, “Mike” with undoubtedly his best ever performance in Albion colours came second with 3 votes. However, Stew with 5 votes took Man of Match – not too sure how as we conceded 4 goals, but you’ve got to take ‘em when you can.

Henri Leconte was a foregone conclusion before a ball was even kicked. The only difficult part was deciding which Will was deemed the “winner”, as many voted for “Will” but didn’t clarify the surname.

After nearly having a nervous breakdown upon hearing Jindy had forgot his shin pads, Will S was pushed further to his limit  when Will C announced he had also forgot his.

Jindy quickly cadged a pair of McPhee but there was no such luck for Carlile. Suggestions to use a newspaper were useless as McPhee now drives and no longer brings a copy of News of the World to read during the team talk.

Instead there were attempts at fashioning pretend shin pads including using Rich’s plimsolls, shoved down the front of his socks.  Eventually, Carlile took to the field with rolled up spare socks stuffed down the front of his socks, giving him legs which looked covered in gout.

So, I reckon it’s joint – “Will” wins.

Sunday 16th March – Albion V Battersea Park Rangers (1:3)

It’s difficult remembering back this far, but my records show Man of the Match was Rich with 5 votes and Will C also picked up a vote.

Looking back at Henri Leconte it must have been a quiet week, in no particular order I got these responses…

“You for flirting to much with their striker”

“Charlie/ Mike – Albion’s’ Keyser Soze”

“Will C for his Luis Suarez/Daniel Sturridge impression.” Can’t think what this could have been, other than his outrageous dive in the box.

And not forgetting Jade…

“Jade. After the disappointing performance in the last two home games, Jade was sacked and replaced by the former coach of Royals Lions with the flat cap”
